the Independence Day

On 11th November, Polish people celebrate the Independence Day. It is mainly celebrated by lighting candles at the statues of people who fought for Poland regained its independence. Some people hang a Polish flag on their blocks of flats or the houses. In Warsaw, which is the capital of Poland, there is a so-called parade. This is how we celebrate the Independence Day in Poland. During that day we also eat croissants, as that is a day of Saint Martin. We consume a lot of St. Martin’s croissants, which has its tradition from 1891 when the priest in one of the Polish churches told the people to do something for the poor. The baker decided to  sell croissants to the rich and to give them to the poor. And that is how it started eating that delicious sweetness.
